Manager – Cyber Operations

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Manager – Cyber Operations to lead day-to-day cybersecurity operations across a complex, safety-critical engineering environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll take ownership of security operations, including SIEM, threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management and penetration testing. Leading a small but growing team, you'll play a key role in protecting critical infrastructure while helping shape the organisation's operational security capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, manage and optimise the SIEM platform, including alert tuning and threat detection.
  • Lead vulnerability management activities, from scanning and risk assessment through to remediation.
  • Plan and coordinate penetration testing across enterprise and engineering environments.
  • Own and lead incident response processes, investigations and recovery activities.
  • Develop and maintain security baselines while monitoring compliance across infrastructure.
  • Mentor and develop the SOC Analyst, supporting the growth of the cyber operations function.

About You

You're a proactive cyber security professional with a passion for operational security and threat detection. You enjoy being hands-on with security technologies while leading teams and continuously improving cyber resilience. You're comfortable working in highly regulated environments where security and operational excellence are critical.

Essential Requirements

  • 12+ years' experience in cybersecurity operations, including at least 5 years in a security operations leadership role.
  • Proven experience deploying and managing enterprise SIEM solutions.
  • Strong background in vulnerability management, penetration testing and incident response.
  • Experience leading cyber operations within defence, aerospace, critical infrastructure or another highly regulated environment.
  • Ability to assess security risks and implement practical, effective controls.

Desirable

  • Experience working in sovereign or classified environments.
  • Knowledge of operational technology (OT/ICS) security.
  • Familiarity with airworthiness security or defence information assurance standards.
  • Experience building or expanding Security Operations Centre (SOC) capabilities.
