Our client is a premier global clean energy investor and infrastructure developer. Known for driving some of the world’s most ambitious renewable energy portfolios, they operate at the cutting edge of the energy transition.
They are currently launching Project Gigastar, their flagship utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) development in East Germany. This landmark project is set to be one of the region's largest storage assets, providing critical frequency response, grid stability, and renewable integration. To head up the physical delivery of this high-profile site, they are seeking an experienced, high-calibre Construction Manager.
Role Overview
As the Construction Manager, you will hold ultimate accountability for all on-site construction activities through to pre-commissioning. You will lead the transition from civil groundworks and high-voltage substation build-out to the installation of battery containers, inverters, and complex cabling systems.
This is a site-based role requiring a strong, delivery-focused leader who can robustly manage EPC contractors, maintain exceptional health and safety standards, and ensure the project hits stringent grid-connection milestones.
Key Responsibilities

On-Site Leadership: Direct and oversee all daily construction operations on site, ensuring civil, structural, and electrical works are executed safely, on time, and to exact technical specifications.

Contractor & EPC Management: Serve as the primary on-site interface for the main EPC partner, Balance of Plant (BOP) contractors, OEM equipment vendors, and specialist subcontractors.

HSE Enforcement: Establish and enforce a zero-harm safety culture on site, ensuring total compliance with German health, safety, and environmental legislation (including SiGeKo protocols).

Grid Connection & Substation Interface: Coordinate closely with internal engineering teams and the local Transmission System Operator (TSO) regarding the construction and integration of the high-voltage grid connection.

Schedule & Budget Control: Manage the construction schedule, identify and mitigate potential delays, oversee site variations, and provide structured progress and risk reporting to the Project Director.
Candidate Profile & Requirements

Proven Infrastructure Track Record: Significant experience acting as a Site or Construction Manager on large-scale, high-voltage infrastructure projects (e.g., utility-scale BESS, wind/solar farms, HV substations, or heavy industrial installations).

Technical Qualifications: A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.

German Market Expertise: A deep understanding of German construction regulations (VOB), permitting requirements, and local site compliance standards.

Language Skills: Professional fluency in both German and English is mandatory for managing local contractors, authorities, and international project stakeholders.

Leadership Traits: An assertive, solution-oriented management style with a track record of driving multi-disciplinary teams toward strict deadlines.
