Conventional Grinding Setter / Operator
Location: North West England
Salary: £33,800–£37,000, depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm
Overtime: Regularly available
An established precision engineering and advanced manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Conventional Grinding Setter / Operator to join its skilled machining team.
You’ll work in a clean, modern manufacturing facility, producing high-specification components from exotic materials using conventional grinding machines, specialist grit and diamond wheels, and advanced gauging equipment.
The role
- Set and operate conventional cylindrical, bore and surface grinders
- Read and accurately interpret engineering drawings
- Manufacture components to tight tolerances
- Select and establish appropriate tooling and grinding requirements
- Use precision measuring and gauging equipment
- Check completed work against technical specifications
- Maintain consistently high standards of quality and accuracy
- Support shift working when required by production demands
What we’re looking for
- A time-served Conventional Grinder or experienced Grinding Setter/Operator
- Proven experience with cylindrical, bore and surface grinding
- Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills
- Experience working to close tolerances
- Confidence using a range of precision measuring equipment
- Experience machining exotic materials would be advantageous
- A quality-focused and reliable approach to work
