About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CNC Setter to join our team at a plastics machining business based in Hitchin. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a progressive and supportive environment where continuous improvement, initiative, and creativity are encouraged.
You will be responsible for setting CNC sliding head machines for production, making in-process adjustments, maintaining quality standards, and working closely with the Cell Support and Quality Control teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate CNC sliding head machines.
- Read, create, and modify CNC programs for production.
- Make in-process adjustments to maintain product quality.
- Inspect components using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings accurately.
- Maintain quality control standards throughout production.
- Collaborate with Cell Support and Quality Control teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience setting and operating CNC sliding head machines (Fanuc experience preferred).
- The ability to read and create CNC programs for production.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Excellent measuring and inspection skills.
- A good understanding of engineering drawings.
- A proactive approach to improving processes.
- The ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Hours
Week 1
- Monday to Friday: 6:00am – 2:00pm
Week 2
- Monday to Thursday: 1:30pm – 10:00pm
- Friday: 1:30pm – 6:40pm
