CNC 5-AXIS MACHINIST

CNC 5-Axis Machinist required to work for a leading precision engineering and advanced manufacturing company.

This is an excellent opportunity based in Rock Hill, South Carolina to join an established manufacturing organization, whilst being rewarded with a competitive package and the opportunity to machine complex, high-precision components for the motorsport, automotive, medical, and aerospace industries. 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as a CNC 5-Axis Machinist, performing various tasks including:

  • Setting and operating 5-axis CNC milling machines
  • Proving out and running CNC machining programs
  • Reading and interpreting G-code on machine controls
  • Working with Siemens and Heidenhain control systems
  • Utilizing effective work-holding and fixture techniques
  • Supporting fixture setup and machining process optimization
  • Manufacturing precision components from billet, castings, and extrusions
  • Performing preventative maintenance and machine lubrication activities
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Calculating machining parameters including speeds and feeds
  • Troubleshooting machining and production issues
  • Ensuring products meet customer quality requirements
  • Supporting continuous improvement and 5S initiatives
  • Maintaining a safe and organized working environment. 

Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a CNC machining environment
  • Experience setting and operating 5-axis CNC milling machines
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and best practices
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of CAM/CAD software
  • Experience reading and understanding G-code
  • Good understanding of work-holding and fixture techniques
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • English proficiency equivalent to CEFR Level B1 or above. 

Desirable Requirements

  • Engineering apprenticeship or vocational machining qualification
  • Experience using Mastercam, Hypermill, or Edgecam
  • Experience working with Siemens and Heidenhain controls
  • Previous aerospace manufacturing experience
  • Previous motorsport manufacturing experience
  • Previous medical device manufacturing experience
  • Previous automotive manufacturing experience
  • Experience supporting fixture development and machining optimization activities.
