VHR is recruiting experienced SMW / Structures Mechanics for a long-term heavy maintenance programme with a major aviation organisation in the Middle East.

This is an initial 6-month renewable contract for experienced aircraft structures professionals with strong heavy maintenance, workshop and composite experience, working across both Boeing and Airbus wide-body aircraft.

The Role

As an SMW / Structures Mechanic, you will undertake structural maintenance, repair, modification and workshop activities in accordance with approved aircraft maintenance data, engineering instructions and regulatory requirements.

The position requires strong hands-on experience within a commercial aircraft heavy/base maintenance environment, including metallic structural work and composite repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out structural repairs and modifications during scheduled heavy maintenance inputs.
  • Perform sheet metal fabrication, drilling, riveting, cutting, forming, fitting and structural component replacement.
  • Inspect aircraft structures for damage, corrosion and structural defects.
  • Carry out repairs in accordance with approved structural repair schemes and manufacturer requirements.
  • Complete composite repairs to aircraft structures and components.
  • Undertake composite preparation, lay-up, bonding, curing, trimming and finishing as required.
  • Carry out structural fabrication and repair activities within a workshop environment.
  • Interpret and work accurately from SRMs, AMMs, engineering drawings, repair instructions and technical documentation.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and work cards accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workmanship throughout all activities.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • Proven experience as an SMW / Aircraft Structures Mechanic.
  • Strong recent experience within a commercial aircraft heavy/base maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrable hands-on composite repair experience.
  • Previous aircraft structures/workshop experience.
  • Strong sheet metal and structural repair capability.
  • Experience working across both Boeing and Airbus wide-body aircraft.
  • Ability to interpret SRMs, engineering drawings and approved technical data.
  • Relevant aircraft structures / sheet metal training or qualifications.
  • Good understanding of aviation quality, safety and airworthiness requirements.

Experience on wide-body types such as B777, B787, B747, B767, A330, A340, A350 and/or A380 would be advantageous.
