Senior Quantity Surveyor - Power Infrastructure | Renewables | Solar | BESS 

Location: Hybrid – East of England (Regular Site Visits Across Project Locations)

Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to play a key commercial role on major power infrastructure and renewable energy projects?

We're looking for a commercially astute QS to join a growing delivery team delivering high-value electrical infrastructure, Solar and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of project finances from tender through to final account while working closely with operational teams and clients.

This is a hybrid role, combining home working with regular travel to project sites across the East of England and occasional visits to the regional office.

The Role

You'll be responsible for the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, profitably and in line with contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing project budgets, forecasts and commercial performance
  • Producing and reviewing tender documentation and cost estimates
  • Negotiating and managing subcontractor packages
  • Contract administration including variations, Early Warnings, compensation events, claims and change management
  • Producing monthly CVRs, P&L reports and WIP reporting
  • Risk and opportunity analysis throughout the project lifecycle
  • Procuring subcontractors and suppliers
  • Providing commercial and contractual support to project delivery teams
  • Building strong relationships with clients, project managers, engineers and site teams
  • Leading commercial input into project close-out and lessons learned

About You

You'll already have experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within utilities, power, renewables, infrastructure or civil engineering and enjoy working in a fast-paced project environment.

Experience in the following would be highly advantageous:

  • Power infrastructure, HV/LV, utilities, Solar or BESS projects
  • NEC contracts and contract administration
  • Commercial reporting including CVRs, WIP and project forecasting
  • Subcontract management and procurement
  • Cost control, budgeting and financial reporting
  • Negotiating contracts and maximising commercial performance
  • Reading construction drawings and understanding project delivery processes
  • Working directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams

Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or similar (preferred)
  • RICS-accredited qualification desirable
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Proactive, collaborative and results-driven approach
