This is an exciting opportunity for a practical and motivated engineer to join a busy production environment, where you will play a key role in maintaining production machinery, minimising downtime and supporting the continued improvement of equipment reliability.
The successful candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding experience, together with knowledge of pneumatic systems, automated machinery and production/packaging equipment. Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and reliability of production and packaging equipment, including:
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults.
- Fault-finding on pneumatic systems and automated machinery.
- Maintaining production and packaging equipment to a high standard.
- Responding promptly to machinery breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Identifying the root cause of equipment failures and implementing effective solutions.
- Supporting machinery installation, upgrades and engineering improvement projects.
- Working closely with production teams and fellow engineers to maintain efficient production.
- Helping to improve machinery reliability and reduce repeat breakdowns.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety, food safety and quality.
- Working effectively in a fast-paced production environment and responding calmly under pressure.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the engineering function.
Mandatory Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer, Multiskilled Engineer or similar engineering position within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding and repair skills.
- Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs.
- Good knowledge of pneumatic systems and automated machinery.
- Experience maintaining production and/or packaging equipment.
- Strong practical and hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify faults, establish root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND or equivalent.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an engineering team.
- A proactive approach to machinery reliability and continuous improvement.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience within the food manufacturing or food production industry.
- Knowledge or experience of industrial refrigeration systems.
- Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems would be highly advantageous.
- Experience supporting machinery installation, upgrades and improvement projects.
- Knowledge of food safety and quality procedures within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within a high-volume production environment.
