ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

We are partnering with an established, rapidly growing High Voltage & Energy Solutions provider at the forefront of the UK’s energy transition. They specialise in delivering complex HV infrastructure, grid connections, and turnkey energy solutions across primary and secondary distribution projects.

Due to a strong pipeline of major projects, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering team.

The Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering detailed design packages for HV substations, grid connections, and balance of plant projects ranging from 11kV up to 132kV+.

You will work closely with project managers, CAD technicians, and client stakeholders to ensure designs are compliant, safe, and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities:
Produce primary and/or secondary electrical design packages for HV substations and network connections.

Carry out technical calculations (cable sizing, earthing, fault level calculations, protection settings).

Prepare single-line diagrams (SLDs), layout drawings, schematic diagrams, and wiring schedules.

Liaise with DNOs, IDNOs, and National Grid to secure approvals and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Conduct site visits and technical surveys as required during the pre-construction and design phases.

Support tendering activities by providing technical input and design estimates.

What We Are Looking For
Degree / HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Proven track record in electrical design within the UK HV / Power Distribution / Grid Connection sectors.

Strong knowledge of relevant UK standards (BS 7671, ENA Engineering Recommendations, DNO specifications).

Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, CymCAP, ERACS, ETAP, or CDEGS is highly desirable).

Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage client technical interfaces.
