Position Summary
The AME M2 – Dash 8 Q400 is responsible for performing and certifying heavy maintenance activities within an MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) environment. This role ensures all maintenance and structural work on the De Havilland Dash 8 Q400 is completed and certified in full compliance with Transport Canada regulations, approved maintenance data, and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Heavy Maintenance & Certification
- Perform heavy maintenance checks including:
- C-checks and structural inspections
- Major component removals and installations
- Cabin, structural, and systems overhaul activities
- Certify all completed work strictly in accordance with Transport Canada regulations
- Ensure aircraft are maintained and released to service in an airworthy condition
Structural & Systems Work
- Carry out structural inspections, corrosion control, and repairs
- Perform disassembly and reassembly of aircraft systems and components
- Work on systems including:
- PW150A engines (support/removal/install tasks)
- Propellers (Dowty R408)
- Flight controls and rigging
- Landing gear systems
- Hydraulic and electrical systems
Troubleshooting & Rectification
- Identify and troubleshoot defects discovered during heavy maintenance
- Perform rectifications in accordance with approved data and engineering instructions
- Coordinate with engineering for repair schemes when required
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete, verify, and certify maintenance documentation in accordance with Transport Canada standards
- Ensure compliance with:
- Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) procedures
- Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM)
- Structural Repair Manual (SRM)
- Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC)
- Accurately record all findings, defects, and corrective actions
Inspection & Quality Assurance
- Perform detailed inspections for structural integrity, wear, and damage
- Ensure compliance with:
- Airworthiness Directives (ADs)
- Service Bulletins (SBs)
- Maintain high quality and safety standards in an MRO environment
MRO Operations Support
- Collaborate with production teams, planners, and QA within the hangar environment
- Support project timelines and heavy check schedules
- Maintain housekeeping, tooling control, and safety compliance
Qualifications
- Valid Transport Canada AME M2 License (mandatory)
- Experience in heavy maintenance / MRO environment
- Dash 8 Q400 type endorsement or equivalent experience preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of:
- Heavy maintenance practices and hangar operations
- Aircraft structures and repair techniques
- Transport Canada regulatory framework
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, repair drawings, and engineering orders
