Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME M2) – Challenger Fleet

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME M2) required to work for Sunwest, a leading business aviation and charter operator.
This is an excellent opportunity based in Canada, supporting Challenger aircraft line and base maintenance, whilst being rewarded with a competitive, performance‑based salary and a comprehensive benefits package within an established aviation organisation.


Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as an AME M2, performing various tasks including:

  • Taking personal responsibility for workplace safety and actively promoting safe work practices in accordance with Sunwest’s Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Maintaining Sunwest and customer Challenger aircraft, while supporting the wider fleet as required
  • Returning aircraft to service in accordance with Sunwest policy manuals and Transport Canada CARs
  • Providing oversight and control of aircraft inspection and maintenance projects
  • Inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and rectifying aircraft systems including engines, hydraulics, flight controls, avionics, and fuel systems
  • Disassembling aircraft systems and removing defective components
  • Assembling, installing, and rigging replacement parts, components, and structures in accordance with approved technical data
  • Completing Service Checks, Base Inspections, L‑Checks, daily inspections, and aircraft configuration changes
  • Recording defects and rectification actions, maintaining accurate and complete technical records
  • Liaising with vendors and technical support teams for engineering and repair data
  • Assisting with Service Difficulty Reports in coordination with the Crew Chief
  • Mentoring, coaching, and training apprentice AMEs and entry‑level personnel
  • Working away from base in support of aircraft recovery, inspection, or AOG events
  • Operating and maintaining ground service equipment and tooling
  • Assisting with parts receiving and purchase order creation when required
  • Maintaining strict personal tool control and ensuring toolboxes are clean and organised
  • Assisting with aircraft movement, wing walking, and ramp activities
  • Ensuring all mandatory training is completed and kept current
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and professional work environment
  • Performing other related duties as assigned by the Crew Chief

Mandatory Requirements

  • Valid Transport Canada AME Licence – M2 (M1 considered an asset)
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Restricted Airside Identification Card (RAIC)
  • Valid radio licence
  • Strong knowledge of CARs and approved maintenance procedures
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints
  • Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across aircraft systems and structures
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and technical record‑keeping skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Flexibility to work an 8 days on / 6 days off shift rotation
  • Ability to work in challenging four‑season weather conditions

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous Challenger aircraft experience
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and delegate effectively
  • Valid Canadian passport
  • Experience working in base maintenance and inspection environments
