The Role
The Sheet Metal Specialist is responsible for supervising and directing assigned sheet metal mechanics in the performance of aircraft structural maintenance activities. This includes repairs, modifications, damage assessment, and ensuring all associated documentation and sign-offs are completed in compliance with regulatory and OEM standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate sheet metal mechanics performing aircraft structural maintenance tasks.

Ensure accurate damage identification and assessment in accordance with OEM and approved maintenance data.

Ensure all structural repairs, modifications, and fabrication work are completed to OEM, regulatory, and quality standards.

Provide realistic task estimates and monitor progress to minimize aircraft downtime.

Ensure compliance with approved maintenance data, regulatory procedures, and MOE requirements.

Review, maintain, and sign off maintenance documentation and paperwork when authorized.

Coordinate and report any out-of-limit damages or deviations to Engineering and follow up on resolutions.

Ensure correct tools, materials, parts, and tagging procedures are used and properly controlled.

Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations.

Train, guide, and support less experienced personnel.

Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas and ensure proper shift handover procedures.

Perform additional duties within the scope of specialization as assigned by management.
Knowledge and Experience
-
Preferred Candidates will have an indentured Apprenticeship in aircraft sheet metal Fabrication and structural repairs within an Aerospace or Aviation Organisation

Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and repair in accordance with manufacturer documentation.

Knowledge of specialized sheet metal processes such as cold working, flap peening, surface treatment, and heat treatment.

Knowledge of aircraft sheet metal techniques, terminology, parts, and materials.
-
Understanding of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
-
Basic knowledge of fasteners and suitable alternatives.

Proficiency in the use and maintenance of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring or test equipment.

Familiarity with EASA Part 145 regulations.

ERP system knowledge is an advantage.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Visio, etc.).

Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Ability to identify structural parts using applicable maintenance data (SRM, IPC, CMM, drawings, etc.).

Ability to perform metallic structural repairs using SRM, CMM, EM, drawings, and standard manuals.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, sketches, and specifications.

Ability to plan and organize work assignments, including determining required resources.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
