Sheet Metal Worker (SMW) Specialist - Team Leader. This role is a leadership position responsible for overseeing teams of SMWs performing base maintenance on both Boeing and Airbus aircraft.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in aircraft structural repairs and modifications, combined with proven leadership experience in a heavy maintenance environment. You will act as the first point of contact for your team, ensuring work is carried out safely, on time, and to the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of Sheet Metal Workers carrying out structural repairs, modifications, and component replacements.
Oversee maintenance tasks on Airbus and Boeing aircraft during base maintenance checks.
Allocate work, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to maintenance schedules.
Provide technical support and mentorship to team members.
Conduct quality checks and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Liaise with planners, engineers, and quality departments to coordinate workload and resolve issues.
Ensure all documentation, including work cards and sign-offs, are completed accurately and on time.
Promote and enforce health & safety practices within the team.
Requirements:
Extensive experience in base maintenance on Airbus and/or Boeing aircraft.
Proven background in sheet metal work, structural repair, and heavy maintenance tasks.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience in an MRO or airline environment.
Strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance documentation and compliance standards.
Ability to lead teams effectively and communicate across departments.
Eligible to work in [Insert Region] and pass relevant security/background checks.
Desirable Qualifications:
Apprenticeship or vocational qualification in Aircraft Maintenance or Sheet Metal Work.
Experience on aircraft such as A320, A330, B737, B777 is highly desirable.
Valid HF, EWIS & FTS certificates (preferred).
Formal leadership or management training (advantageous).
