Director of Business Development & Government Affairs –
A Director of Business Development & Government Affairs is required to work for a leading company in the maritime defense and undersea systems industry.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work as a Director of Business Development & Government Affairs, performing various tasks including:

Developing and executing comprehensive business development strategies aligned with corporate growth objectives and Navy mission priorities.

Identifying, qualifying, and pursuing new business opportunities across the U.S. Navy, DoD, and strategic industry partners, with emphasis on undersea operations and mine warfare.

Leading capture planning, opportunity shaping, and pre‑RFP engagement.

Collaborating with technical, program management, and proposal teams to develop competitive solutions and win strategies.

Achieving revenue growth targets through measurable sales performance and pipeline development.

Serving as a primary interface with Navy program offices, PEOs, SYSCOMs, warfare centers, and other government stakeholders.

Maintaining active engagement with senior military officers, civilian leadership, and acquisition professionals.

Representing the company at industry days, conferences, trade shows, and classified/unclassified forums.

Building and maintaining strategic relationships with prime contractors, subcontractors, and industry partners.

Monitoring policy, budget, and acquisition trends affecting Navy and undersea warfare programs.

Providing strategic insight to executive leadership on market trends, competitive positioning, and long‑term growth opportunities.

Leading, mentoring, and supervising business development staff to foster a results‑driven, collaborative culture.

Supporting corporate strategic planning, including market entry, partnership strategy, and M&A assessments.
Mandatory Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Science, or a related field.

Former U.S. Navy officer with experience in undersea operations, defense systems, or mine warfare.

Established network and active relationships within the undersea warfare community.

Proven business development and sales success with quantifiable revenue growth and contract wins.

Strong understanding of Navy acquisition processes, budgeting, and program lifecycles.

Current Secret Security Clearance (minimum).

U.S. citizenship and valid passport.

Ability to travel 20–40%, CONUS and OCONUS.
Desirable Requirements

U.S. Naval Academy graduate (advantageous).

Experience working with or for Navy SYSCOMs, warfare centers, or PEOs.

Prior leadership of capture teams and complex, multi‑year defense programs.

Familiarity with international allied naval programs and FMS processes.
