The Role:
The Automation Sales Engineer will have responsibility for business development of the companies' Automation hardware & software offering including analytics & edge solutions, as well as portfolios within the Division for Automation Products & Solutions (APS). The customer engagement will be in direct accounts and customers behind distribution, within target growth & emerging markets. Within the defined territory (South), there will be responsibility to support colleagues in customer and partner activity. Delivering sales growth year on year through continued design in, inclusive of customers, end users and systems integrators will be a key focus.
* Achieve national sales budget for Automation hardware & software, including associated portfolios in the Division for Automation Products & Solutions.
* Develop and deliver a personal progressive sales pipeline across the portfolio(s) of responsibility.
* Target new business opportunities, both projects and serial production.
* Build, share and maintain knowledge and experiences within the company
* Support sales projects & processes with solutions within Automation.
* Support and work with the Territory Sales and Business Development Managers in Automation opportunities.
* Focus on short, medium and long term design in of hardware and software solutions, engaging with key decision makers in targeted markets and customers.
* Collaborate with appointed Systems Integrators / Partners on projects where panel build, and software development / hardware integration is required.
* Support customer demonstrations, training, exhibitions, and seminars.
The Person:
* At least 5 years industry experience in industrial automation and Edge solution sales.
* Ideally qualified with HNC or equivalent technical qualification.
* An overall understanding of automation architectures, including PLC programming languages (IEC61131-3, Codesys desirable).
* Principles of visualisation software tools, including thin client deployment and SCADA.
* An understanding of Industrial Ethernet in modern control networks and factory automation environments, including security routers, Ethernet switches and remote access solutions.
* Open platform / protocol awareness, with use cases is desirable - Web technologies, OPC UA, Docker, Node Red, MQTT.
* Well organised with a professional approach to customer / client engagement.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, including digital platforms.
* Highly self-motivated and disciplined.
* Logical approach to problem solving and solutions approach to task management.
* Strong and structured negotiation skills.
* Able to develop key relationships at a high level.
