CNC Machinist – Night Shift (Motorsport Precision Engineering)

CNC Machinist (Night Shift) required to work for a leading precision engineering organisation making key contributions to the motorsport and Formula 1 industry.

This is an excellent opportunity based in West Sussex to join a highly regarded motorsport-focused engineering business, working on complex, high-precision components while benefiting from a competitive hourly rate, shift allowance, and overtime.

 

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as a CNC Machinist, performing various tasks including:

  • Setting up and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture high-precision components

  • Programming, editing, and optimising machining processes using Heidenhain controls

  • Machining complex parts using 5-axis CNC machines

  • Working with advanced materials, including carbon fibre, for motorsport and F1 applications

  • Carrying out quality inspections to ensure components meet tight tolerances and specifications

  • Collaborating with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot and improve machining processes

  • Using offline CAM programming, with a strong preference for Visi / Vero software

  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised working environment in line with health and safety standards

 

Mandatory Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist

  • Strong experience in CNC milling and 5-axis machining

  • Proficiency in programming and operating machines using Heidenhain controls

  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T

  • Proven experience with offline CAM programming (Visi / Vero highly preferred)

  • High attention to detail and strong commitment to quality

 

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience machining motorsport or Formula 1 components

  • Experience working with carbon fibre or advanced composite materials

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Previous experience working night shifts

 

Additional Information

  • Night shift role – 40 hours per week

  • Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts

  • Shift start times between 4:30pm and 8:00am

  • Hourly rate: £18–£20 per hour + £5 per hour shift allowance

  • 20 days annual leave

  • Overtime paid at 1.5x the standard rate
