VHR’s Founder and CEO Danny Brooks completed Ride London in preparation for his annual charity cycle ride around Australia.
Ride London
On 4thAugust 2019, the world’s greatest festival of cycling returned for its eighth year. The Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 sees professional and amateur cyclists undertake a 100-mile challenge to race from London to Surrey.
This year VHR’s CEO Danny Brooks and accomplished cyclist took part in Ride London. Danny rode as a team of three to prepare for The Captain’s Ride in Australia in October 2019.
Danny and his team completed the 100-mile course in a time of five hours and three minutes.
The Captain’s Ride
Led by former Australian Cricket Captain Steve Waugh, The Captain’s Ride is an annual cycle ride around Australia that raises funds for good causes. All proceeds go to the Steve Waugh Foundation which helps children with rare diseases and their families through:
· Individual Grants – for medicine, specialized equipment and treatment therapies
· Respite Camps – supporting the siblings and families of children with rare diseases
· Raising Awareness – Promoting World Rare Disease Day in Australia since 2009.
The Steve Waugh Foundation and its fundraisers strive to give children a better quality of life, offering support and the opportunity to connect with others.
In October 2019 Danny will begin an epic journey across Australia. Over a week Danny and his team will spend up to 10 hours a day cycling over 100km at a time to support children with rare diseases.
VHR’s Charity Activities
VHR’s charitable activities in the past year include:
· Hosting the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support
· Running the London Santa Dash for Great Ormond Street Hospital
· Racing the Cape Town Cycle Tour with Olympic Gold Medal winner Daley Thompson.
