Are you a hands-on SAP who enjoys leading from site and getting involved in the practical work?

VHR is recruiting a 33kV Senior Authorised Person on behalf of an established electrical engineering business delivering HV installation, maintenance and refurbishment projects.

This is an opportunity for someone with a strong practical background who wants to combine SAP responsibilities with active involvement in project delivery, working alongside electrical fitters, cable jointers and commissioning teams.

The role

Plan and carry out authorised HV switching, isolation and earthing up to 33kV.
Issue and manage safety documents under the applicable electrical safety rules.
Establish safe working areas and brief site teams.
Lead and support electrical fitters, cable jointers and subcontractors.
Contribute to installation, inspection, maintenance and fault finding within your competence and authorisation.
Coordinate outages and support testing, commissioning and safe return to service.

What you’ll bring

Current or previous SAP authorisation covering 33kV, with a relevant scope of appointment.
Practical experience in HV electrical fitting, installation, maintenance or commissioning.
A sound understanding of HV switchgear, transformers, switching schedules and safety documentation.
Confidence leading site teams and resolving technical issues.
A recognised electrical apprenticeship or relevant qualification.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

The role would particularly suit an HV Electrical Fitter, Site Supervisor or Commissioning Engineer who has progressed into SAP duties and wants to remain hands-on.
