Engineering Technical Documentation Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technical Documentation Specialist to join an aviation and aerospace engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and maintaining accurate technical documentation supporting aircraft modifications, maintenance, engineering projects, and regulatory requirements.

This position requires strong technical writing skills and the ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, technical data, aircraft manuals, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare engineering and technical documentation for aircraft modifications and projects.

  • Prepare technical reports, engineering instructions, work instructions, modification documents, and supporting documentation.

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, aircraft manuals, and technical data to ensure documentation is accurate and complete.

  • Convert engineering information into clear, concise, and easy-to-follow technical instructions.

  • Maintain and update technical documentation throughout the engineering and modification process.

  • Work closely with engineers, aircraft maintenance personnel, and project teams to gather and verify technical information.

  • Ensure documentation complies with applicable Transport Canada, FAA, and other regulatory requirements where applicable.

  • Support the preparation of documentation for aircraft modifications, repairs, installations, and certification activities.

  • Identify inconsistencies or missing information in technical documentation and work with engineering personnel to resolve them.

  • Maintain document control and revision histories.

  • Assist with the preparation of technical packages for customers, regulatory authorities, and internal engineering teams.

  • Ensure all documentation meets company quality and technical standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical writing, engineering documentation, aircraft maintenance documentation, or a related aviation/aerospace environment.

  • Strong understanding of aviation and aerospace terminology.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical data.

  • Experience working with aircraft maintenance manuals, engineering orders, modification data, or similar technical documentation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and document accuracy.

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple technical documentation projects.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.

  • Experience with document control systems and engineering documentation software is an asset.

  • Aviation maintenance, engineering, or aerospace experience is strongly preferred.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • Must be able to successfully complete applicable background and security checks.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing independent assignments.

  • Experience in an MRO, aircraft modification, aerospace manufacturing, or engineering environment is considered an asset.
