CNC Turner / Setter / Operator – FANUC

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience, with premium rates for long turning and CAD/CAM expertise

Hours: Day shift, 08:00–16:30, with additional hours required when business needs arise

We're recruiting an experienced CNC Turner / Setter / Operator to join a growing team of more than 70 people. The business specialises in precision machining and diamond grinding, offering a modern and clean working environment alongside varied, & technically demanding work.

The role

You will set, program and operate CNC turning equipment, machining components from engineering drawings while maintaining quality, accuracy and traceability.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reading engineering drawings and selecting suitable tooling.

  • Reading, editing and writing FANUC CNC programs.

  • Generating offline programs using CAPT CAD/CAM or OneCNC.

  • Machining specialist materials, including duplex, super duplex, Inconel 718/X750, Hastelloy and Monel.

  • Using steadies to machine components up to 5 metres long.

  • Inspecting components using calibrated measuring equipment.

  • Completing production and inspection records and maintaining component identification.

  • Working safely and following ISO 9001:2015 quality procedures.

What you’ll bring

  • A completed engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3/equivalent.

  • At least three years’ experience in a similar CNC turning role.

  • Strong FANUC programming skills — essential.

  • Experience with offline CAD/CAM programming.

  • Confidence machining exotic materials and using precision measuring equipment.

  • Good planning, organisation and communication skills.

  • An understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality systems.

Long turning experience and expertise using steadies will be particularly valued.
