Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Aviation / Aerospace Design Engineer with a primary focus on Aircraft Structures to join our engineering team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and engineering support of aircraft structural modifications, installations, repairs, and engineering projects.
This is a hands-on engineering position suited to an individual with strong aircraft structural knowledge and experience interpreting technical data, developing engineering drawings, and supporting aircraft modification projects.
Work Arrangement
The primary location for this position is Muskoka Airport, Ontario. However, hybrid or remote work arrangements may be available depending on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and ability to work independently.
Candidates with significant aircraft structural design and engineering experience may be considered for a greater degree of remote work, while less-experienced candidates may be required to work primarily on-site.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop aircraft structural modifications and components.

Develop structural installation designs, modification kits, brackets, supports, panels, and other aircraft structures.

Create and revise 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.

Interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, structural repair manuals, drawings, specifications, and other technical data.

Develop engineering solutions for aircraft modifications, repairs, and installations.

Work with AMEs and technicians to ensure designs can be practically implemented on aircraft.

Prepare engineering drawings, design data, work packages, and technical documentation.

Support aircraft modification and certification projects.

Assist with engineering data required for regulatory approval and certification.

Support structural calculations and coordinate with stress/analysis resources when required.

Ensure designs comply with applicable Transport Canada and other regulatory requirements.

Provide technical support to maintenance and production teams.

Manage engineering projects, revisions, and configuration control.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related discipline.

Minimum 5 years of relevant aerospace/aviation engineering experience.

Strong aircraft structural design experience.

Experience with aircraft modifications, repairs, or installations.

Ability to interpret aircraft technical data, engineering drawings, and specifications.

Proficiency with CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent.

Strong understanding of aircraft structures, materials, fasteners, joints, and structural load paths.

Knowledge of GD&T and aerospace drawing standards.

Strong technical communication and documentation skills.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
Preferred Experience
-
Aircraft modification and STC experience.
-
Transport Canada, FAA, or EASA regulatory experience.

Aircraft structural repair experience.

Experience developing modification kits and installation drawings.

Experience with metallic and composite aircraft structures.

Experience working in an MRO or aircraft maintenance environment.

Structural analysis / FEA experience.

Aircraft certification and airworthiness experience.
Security & Employment Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident required.

Must be able to successfully complete required criminal and security background checks.

Ability to work at Muskoka Airport when on-site attendance is required.
Compensation
Salary will be competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and technical expertise.
Remote/hybrid eligibility and flexibility will also be determined based on the candidate's experience and ability to independently perform the role.
