AME-E / Avionics Technician – Aircraft Modifications

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced AME-E or Avionics Technician to join an aircraft modification team. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on avionics experience and the ability to interpret technical data, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and modification instructions.

The role will involve carrying out aircraft modifications, avionics installations, wiring changes, and building modification kits for aircraft installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft avionics and electrical modifications in accordance with approved technical data and engineering instructions.

  • Read and interpret technical data, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and modification instructions.

  • Build, assemble, and prepare aircraft modification kits.

  • Fabricate and install wiring harnesses, connectors, brackets, and associated components.

  • Perform avionics installations and aircraft electrical system modifications.

  • Conduct testing, troubleshooting, inspections, and functional checks following modifications.

  • Identify and resolve installation and technical issues.

  • Work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to complete modification projects.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of completed work.

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with applicable aviation regulations, quality standards, and safety procedures.

  • Support the development and improvement of modification kits and installation processes.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • AME-E licence preferred, or equivalent aircraft avionics/electrical experience.

  • Proven experience as an AME-E, Avionics Technician, or Aircraft Electrician.

  • Hands-on experience performing aircraft modifications and avionics installations.

  • Strong ability to interpret technical data and engineering drawings.

  • Ability to read and understand aircraft wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.

  • Experience building modification kits, wiring harnesses, or aircraft installation kits.

  • Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.

  • Previous experience in an aircraft maintenance, MRO, completion, or modification environment is an asset.

Security & Employment Requirements

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and legally eligible to work in Canada.

  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass all required security and background checks.

  • Must be able to meet applicable security requirements associated with the position and work environment.

  • Must have reliable personal transportation to and from the worksite.

  • Candidates must be able to provide documentation confirming their eligibility to work in Canada.

Preferred Experience

Experience with the following would be an asset:

  • Aircraft modification programs

  • Avionics upgrades

  • STC installations

  • Wiring harness fabrication

  • Electrical system modifications

  • Engineering change orders

  • Modification instructions

  • Aircraft integration and functional testing

  • Modification kit preparation

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on avionics professional who can take technical documentation and engineering drawings and turn them into completed aircraft modifications.

You should be comfortable working with engineering teams, building modification kits, fabricating and installing aircraft wiring and components, and troubleshooting avionics and electrical systems.

Compensation

Salary is competitive and will depend on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and licensing.

AME-E licensed candidates and experienced Avionics Technicians with strong aircraft modification experience will be considered based on their level of experience.
